The Sahuarita Unified School District has announced its intention to pursue the 21st Century Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant for Sahuarita Middle School. The 21st Century Community Learning Center grant is a large five-year award bestowed on school districts to supplement learning opportunities for all students.
The funding would allow for a range of supplementary after-school programs in the arts, academic enrichment, continual and targeted tutoring, technology, health and fitness, and character education. The program is designed to work with administrators and teachers to provide programming that engages students and their families.
With grant funding, Sahuarita Middle School students will have access to a full range of after-school programs and support services. In programs funded by the 21st CCLC grant at Sahuarita High School and Sopori Elementary, the schools have seen an increase in attendance, improvement in school morale and a strengthening of the parent- teacher connection.
