In October of last year, a new Sahuarita tradition began for the community. Sahuarita Spooktacular, a community event organized by partners such as the Town of Sahuarita, Rural/Metro Fire Department, Common Ground Church, and Rancho Sahuarita, brought out over 5,000 residents in the Town of Sahuarita. Held in the Rancho Sahuarita Marketplace, the event included a ‘trunk-or-treat’ area, costume contests, a ‘Haunted Coffee Shop’, and other activities for those in attendance. The event fulfilled a desire by residents of the Town for a Halloween season event, which had previously been held some years prior.
Kristina Moreno, Resident Relations Manager for Rancho Sahuarita, said of the event and of the collaborative process behind its planning, “I think that Spooktacular gives us, as a community, the opportunity to come together and provide children and families a safe and enjoyable night out. I love the fact that there is a synergy between all the partners involved, and that we can bring our ideas together to maximize the quality of our lifestyle experience. “
The event will return again this year, on Saturday, October 26th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This year’s festivities will include many of the same elements, with a couple new different and fun twists. Held at the Sahuarita Unified School District Main Campus outside of the Auditorium, a ‘trunk-or-treat’, a “Zombie High” Haunted House, and other entertainment will fill this year’s event. There will also be food vendors on site for families to enjoy. For questions regarding the event, please contact Michelle Moreno at the Rancho Sahuarita Clubhouse, at 520-207-7730, or the Parks and Recreation Department at the Town of Sahuarita.
