On Saturday, October 22nd, residents of Rancho Sahuarita were invited to attend a special barbecue event, held at the brand new Armed Forces Tribute in the community. Dozens of residents and their guests turned out for the event, which included music, family entertainment, lunch served by team members of Rural/Metro Fire Department and special activities to honor military members and their families.
Those in attendance were able to enjoy a face painter, jumping castles, music and more. A special banner was also present at the event, on which residents signed their names and left their well wishes and messages of gratitude.
Recently re-elected Resident Board Member, LTC Robert Webster USAR Ret, said of the event, “I really enjoyed attending the Armed Forces Tribute today. Having served in the military, I always enjoy getting together with men and women who have served as well. The new park allows us to enjoy reminiscing and sharing our stories with family and friends. I look forward to future events honoring our military personnel.”
The tribute, which opened in July of this year, is designed to be a permanent memorial for all those who currently serve or have served in the five branches of the United States Armed Forces; in particular, those who call Rancho Sahuarita home.
