Sahuarita Times: Pick-a-Berry Opens in Marketplace

On Thursday, September 26th, Pick A Berry Yogurt opened its doors for business. Pick A Berry, (or ‘PAB’, for short,) offers families a healthy dessert option with a variety of frozen yogurt treats. The family-owned and operated company brings its passion, excitement, and commitment to the community.

After having been introduced to the self-serve yogurt concept while in South Dakota, owners David Hundley and Lynne Terry decided to pursue the venture and start their own business. Joined by their father Bruce Hundley and his wife Roberta Atkins, and after having owned a small business previously, they were excited to begin the new endeavor.  They researched the community and the area, and concluded that Sahuarita would be a perfect place to try it.

Co-owner Roberta Atkins spoke of the experience and of the decision to pick Sahuarita. “When we first started researching communities in the area to host our venture, Rancho Sahuarita was a perfect fit.   We were intrigued with the close knit community and all it had to offer to families.”

Located in the Rancho Sahuarita Marketplace, the business follows the same self-serve, ‘weigh-and-pay’ model that the family had experienced and that is gaining popularity in many different areas of the country. By allowing the customer to have complete control in choosing not only the flavor they want, but also which and what amount of toppings they would like to add, it gives to each their own desired level of customization. Coupled with a growing variety of flavors and toppings that can be mixed and matched to make dozens of combinations, and excellent customer service, patrons are certain to find something that will please any palate.

The company will offer many specials, and uses fun twists in the menu offering; such as having rotating flavors and toppings throughout various times of the year.  Additionally, PAB has several different categories of frozen yogurt, including non-fat, low-fat, no-sugar-added, and dairy-free.

Residents of the local community are thrilled to have PAB in the neighborhood. In the first few weeks since opening, they have been delighted by the delicious product, friendly customer service, and personal interaction with the team. PAB is hiring local residents in the restaurant as well, making it an integral addition to the area.

Beyond catering birthday parties and special events, PAB will also be taking the opportunity to give back. Through hosting special fundraisers, in which a percentage of sales generated will go to benefit a given cause, the team is working to help the community which gave it such a great start. Lynne Terry summed up her thoughts on the business and its success thus far saying, “The response in Sahuarita has been overwhelming!  We are so happy to be part of such a wonderful community, and such a supportive and happy community to do business in.”
