As we go through this month of December, the holiday season is in full swing. From family gatherings and office parties; to home decorating and gift giving; there is certainly plenty to keep us busy. But with everything happening around us, it’s important not to forget about those that are in need of a little extra holiday love and cheer this season. While giving is always good, the reason for the season can truly be found in giving back around the holidays.

Here are some ways that you can get connected and join your neighbors to help out this season:

*Give Goods: Give to or volunteer at the local food bank. Food banks in communities across the country are always in need of help and donations, but the holidays are an extra special opportunity to help out, when the need is great. Contact the Sahuarita Food Bank to see what items would be especially appreciated this season, or see if there are opportunities for you to volunteer and help organize or distribute the goods.

*Give Time: Volunteer your time at any of the wonderful organizations in our community. Organizations like the Green Valley/Sahuarita Volunteer Clearinghouse always have resources with lots of ways that you can get involved and give back depending on your availability and interest; and they never have a shortage of causes or initiatives in need. You can visit their Facebook page here to learn more.

*Give Love: A simple smile. A compliment. A kind gesture. These are all small things, which in the hustle and bustle of a busy day may seem insignificant, but to someone, it can mean the world. Give kindness this holiday season, and remember that with everything going on in day to day life, there is always room for you to do small things to make a big difference.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

From all of us at Rancho Sahuarita, we wish you and yours a healthy and happy holiday season.
