Rancho Sahuarita will host its first ever “Rancho Sahuarita Cancer Walk” event on Saturday, March 4, 2017 to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society. The walk will take place within the master planned community, around Sahuarita Lake. Carondelet Health Network, a long-time partner of Rancho Sahuarita and leading health network in Southern Arizona, will serve as the presenting sponsor for the event.
Brain tumors strike adults and children of all races at any time of their lives, and are often deadly. The leading cause of cancer-related death for children under the age of 14, brain tumors cannot be prevented. Currently, there is no cure for this devastating condition. Rancho Sahuarita has been a supporter of the National Brain Tumor Society, and in 2017 plans to raise a goal amount of $250,000 through efforts with the walk. All proceeds from the event will go directly to fund critical research at many of the top institutions in the country.
Unfortunately, nearly everyone knows someone who is touched by some type of cancer. This gives the local community a special opportunity to come together and unite around one common goal: finding a cure. With that in mind, members of the community and the surrounding region are invited to attend, participate and pledge their support.
On the day of the walk, registration will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by commencement of the walk at 9:00 a.m. Select children’s entertainment, music and food will also be present at the event. The registration cost is $25 for adults, (and includes a t-shirt), and children ages 16 and under must register, but can participate for free.
