Rancho Sahuarita Celebrates Fun, Fitness and Residents’ Furry Friends at New “Trails and Tails Fun Walk”

On Saturday, February 17th, residents of Rancho Sahuarita came together to take part in the community’s new “Trails and Tails Fun Walk” at Sahuarita Lake Park. Sunny weather and tons of family-friendly activities served as the backdrop for the Fun Walk, which challenged participants to take part in several activity stations along the way. The stations – designed to be fun, engaging and fitness-inspiring for the whole family – included tire flipping, jumping, hurdles, hopscotch, a climbing wall, a balance beam, limbo, and pushups.

Those who completed all the stations were entered in a raffle for the chance to win various prizes – including a new grill and treadmill. Medals were also given to residents as they completed the walk around the lake.

In addition to being a great opportunity to take in the outdoors and spend time with friends and neighbors, the event adds to the many existing events that invite residents to participate with their four-legged friends. The community also hosts Canines and Coffee, Pet Pictures with Santa, and a special Dog Halloween Costume Party throughout the year. Dog treats and bandanas were handed out for each of the dogs in attendance, and water stations were available throughout the route.

The event is also another example of Rancho Sahuarita’s commitment by the Health and Wellness Department to continue delivering fun and engaging programming to help residents meet their fitness and wellness goals. Already offering over 45 free group fitness classes per week, the Department has various events throughout the year designed for different ages and skill levels – including Movin’ & Groovin’, Fitness for Two, Restorative Workshops, Healthy Living Series, Fall and Spring Break Kids Camps, Health and Wellness Fairs and more.
