Northwest Healthcare has broken ground on its new Sahuarita Medical Center, in the Sahuarita Town Center. The morning of April 16th, 2019, the healthcare provider hosted a private groundbreaking ceremony, to commemorate the start of construction on the new hospital.
Individuals key to the project, including members of Sahuarita Town Council and staff, executives from Northwest Healthcare and the Rancho Sahuarita Company, and other stakeholders gathered for a brief ceremony and groundbreaking, followed by a short reception. The facility, which is part of the provider’s “No Boundaries” expansion strategy, will be a key economic driver and service for families of the area, bringing 18 hospital beds, and 150 high-paying jobs to the region. The 77,000 square foot hospital also has the capacity to expand in the future.
“We are so thrilled to welcome Northwest into our community with the addition of the Sahuarita Medical Center. This groundbreaking signifies the start of a project that is truly impactful for the region and local economy, and will benefit its residents for years to come,” said Jeremy Sharpe, Chief Operating Officer for Rancho Sahuarita.
This is the first of many milestones, as official construction is set to begin in the coming weeks. The new building is planned to include an emergency room and two operating rooms, as well as medical offices with services such as primary care, cardiology, orthopedics and general surgery.
Near the new hospital in the Sahuarita Town Center are currently located Town municipal buildings, restaurants, an award-winning elementary school and Early Childhood Center, a post office, public library, and an aquatics center. The addition of Northwest to the center will allow for the addition of various ancillary service offerings, and restaurants and businesses to serve the new facility’s employees and patients. The Rancho Sahuarita Company continues to market the surrounding pads to groups.
More updates about the Sahuarita Medical Center will be announced as construction progresses.
