Local Sahuarita School Holds Special Patriot Day Ceremony Event on 9/11

On the morning of September 11th, 2017, roughly 1400 students of Anza Trail school came together to commemorate and recognize the events of and the first responders who served on September 11th, 2001. While the students are too young to remember the event themselves, its impact on the world they live in and the ongoing message of honoring first responders is still something that is near and dear to their hearts. The school’s annual Patriot Day Celebration is designed to recognize, honor and celebrate this fact.

The event brought together the students, faculty and staff of the school; and also included attendees from many other community businesses, partners and school district supporters. Featured guests included team members from Rural/Metro Fire and Rescue, Sahuarita Police Department, Pima County officials, Members of the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense, and members from Veterans of Foreign War.

Members of the community who have served the country were also invited to attend this event and be recognized. The morning included songs, short speeches and formal displays of honor, and was a great example of the community coming together to thank those who serve and sacrifice each day.
