In Honor and Memory: “Sunrise Remembrance”

The morning of Memorial Day, at 7:00 a.m., Rancho Sahuarita held a special event for residents at its Armed Forces Tribute, to remember and honor the service and sacrifice of those who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom.

In Rancho Sahuarita especially, where so many of the residents are part of or have a tie to someone in the Armed Forces, events that pay tribute in this way are incredibly meaningful and important.

At the community’s first “Sunrise Remembrance” event, the approximately 40 residents who attended came together for a morning that included a poignant rendition of Taps, a brief benediction and the placement of a Memorial Wreath.

Resident Board Member, Bob Webster, spoke briefly at the event. He shared a quote from Congressman Tom Cotton which he felt summarized what the day should be: “We honor our fallen for them of course, but also for us, the living. Their stories of heroism, of sacrifice, and of patriotism remind us of what is best in ourselves, and they teach our children what is best in America.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special tribute.
