Famous Folklorico Group to Entertain Sahuarita

Sahuarita Times – Residents of the Town of Sahuarita are invited to experience a very special event, with a performance by the Ballet Folklórico Municipal de Nogales, Sonora. The group will be performing at the Sahuarita Unified School District Auditorium on March 6, 2013 at 6:00 PM. Free tickets are available at The Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce office on Continental Road, at the SUSD Administration building, or at the Rancho Sahuarita Clubhouse.

Ballet folklórico, which is a cultural treasure in Mexico and Central America, as well as nearby regions and cities like Tucson and Sahuarita, combines pieces of Mexican culture, history, and folklore, with rhythm, music and body movement. Folklorico dancing offers a special sense of pride for Hispanic culture, as its members can celebrate and also share their heritage with others. Ballet folklórico is almost always accompanied by traditional Mexican mariachi music. The number of performers in dance numbers ranges anywhere from two to over thirty-five individuals.

The Sahuarita Unified School District, The Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce, Rosemont Copper, and the Rancho Sahuarita Company are honored and excited to host the event, which will serve as a great source of enjoyment and cultural entertainment for the Town’s residents. Dr. Manny Valenzuela, SUSD Superintendent, recently said of the event, “The Sahuarita School District is proud to support this educational, cultural and community event.  It exemplifies our organizational belief that when we all work together, we all win together. By collaborating in regards to education, economic development, outreach, and service to the community, we will truly frame a vision of excellence!”

There is no cost to attend this event, but please keep in mind that space is limited. For more information regarding this event, please contact Sahuarita Unified School District at 520-625-3502.
