Community Event: Partnering for Education

Sahuarita is poised and ready for another special community event, which will come in the form of the 6th Annual Cruisin’ Sahuarita Car Show. This car show, which will take place on Saturday, February 9th from 11 am to 3 pm, will feature classic to new model cars and motorcycles, music, entertainment, food and drink. This year’s car show, however, is special for reasons bigger than the event itself.

Teams at the Town of Sahuarita and Rancho Sahuarita have been working together with other partners to revamp the car show. Previously, it took place at Club Rancho Sahuarita, however as time has passed and its popularity has grown, it has become clear the need to make it bigger. As a result, not only will the car show be held at the Sahuarita Town Center this year, but its purpose has expanded as well.

In working with the Green Valley/ Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce, all of the entities involved have collaboratively worked to plan the car show to benefit the Chamber’s Foundation. Proceeds from the show will go directly to the Foundation, which is dedicated to providing educational scholarships for students in the Sahuarita/Green Valley area.

In addition, other community partners have joined the cause. Jim Click from Green Valley/Sahuarita will also be at the event, both as sponsorship support and to showcase some of their own new cars. El Charro Café is providing a Beer Garden, and Rural/Metro Fire Department and Sahuarita Police Department will also have presences at the event. Events such as this not only allow the community to build on current partnerships within its bounds, but also reach out to the greater community. When entities band together to support things like education, which in a community like Sahuarita is at the core of what makes it so strong, big things can be accomplished.
