On Saturday, September 30th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Rancho Sahuarita will partner with Rural Metro Fire Department and No Kill Pima Country to host a special cause-themed movie night event, aimed at spreading community awareness about the importance of canine microchipping. The movie night, which will take place at Club Rancho Sahuarita, (15455 S. Camino Lago Azul, Sahuarita, AZ 85629), will be preceded by a convenient microchipping event for dogs of resident families. Residents can bring their furry friends and for a cost of $10 per pet (cash, check, and credit card accepted), can have their dog microchipped onsite by trained professionals.
There is no additional registration fee associated with this event, and all those in attendance are invited to stay after for the movie night. Those planning to attend should remember that all dogs much be kept on a leash and should be restrained. (Please note, this event is open to residents of the community and their guests.)
Microchipping is an important step that pet owners should take, as it can mean the difference between a lost and found animal. When a lost dog is found by an individual, one of the first steps is often to scan for a microchip. The chips are as small as a grain of rice, and are implanted in the scruff of a dog’s neck, (so it doesn’t cause the dog pain). The chips are then registered with both the dog and owner’s information.
This event fits seamlessly as part of No Kill Pima County’s Lost Pet Initiative, which “….is working to reduce lost pet occurrence through prevention education and improve rates of pets returning to owners and avoiding shelter placement.” For any questions, please call No Kill Pima Country directly at 520-477-7401, or visit their website at nokillpimacounty.org.
