On Friday, July 15th, Rancho Sahuarita officially opened the new Flamingo Splash Pad. The new water feature, which is the first amenity of its kind in the community, is located at the southern satellite park, and is an expansion of the existing pool amenity there. The pad is the shape of a semi-circle, and is made up of three colors. The centerpiece of the splash park is the addition of two 12-ft tall pink flamingos, and a series of special jets built into the pad which spray water upwards out of the deck. The flamingos, a boy and a girl, both dump water out of their bills, onto the heads of delighted residents below.
The new splash pad, which is accessible with the same access code as the Parque del Rio pool, is private and only open to residents of Rancho Sahuarita. The new amenity is part of a larger expansion project for the park, which also included the opening of the Armed Forces Tribute. This tribute was opened on July 4th in a private dedication ceremony (a special resident event, complete with a public dedication, is planned for the fall).
