Since opening in 2010, Mama’s Hawaiian Bar-B-Cue has been providing delicious dishes, excellent customer service, and island-flair to residents of Tucson, Sahuarita and the surrounding communities. Their menu, which features a large variety of traditional Hawaiian lunches, dinners and desserts, offers customers of all ages many options sure to delight any palate. With three locations, (one in Sahuarita and two in Tucson,) the locally owned and operated chain delivers patrons access to unique dishes and tastes, and can be enjoyed through dine in, take-out and delivery.
Beyond the excellent and expansive selection, however, lies a team commitment to the community that goes far beyond the context of simply providing a great product. From fundraising and cause-oriented programs, to special events and initiatives, Mama’s is truly dedicated to giving back to the community.
Through participating in special “percentage nights”, various organizations and non-profits can earn a percentage of the sales received on a particular day at a select location. This allows those groups to raise extra money for their needs or efforts. Over the years and through the efforts of all three locations, Mama’s has helped countless organizations and clubs achieve fundraising goals with the help of this program.
Mama’s Hawaiian Bar-B-Cue also strives to help special sports teams in the local community. Through catering special events and games for various local school and club teams, the restaurant puts its seal of approval of the importance of youth sports and community engagement.
Most recently in October 2014, the restaurant held their 4th annual “Thank A Cop” event, in which law enforcement personnel could stop by at any time during the day at any of the three locations to enjoy a free meal. In 2013, Mama’s served 183 free meals to police officers. Owner Sam Alboy said of the event: “Mama’s is proud to support local law enforcement. We want to give back to those who protect and serve our community.”
