Rancho Sahuarita, SUSD, and FICO are among the partners recognized alongside the Town of Sahuarita, which received the inaugural Timothy M. Ahrens Partnering Award from Pima Association of Governments and the Regional Transportation Authority on May 22.
The award was established to recognize the spirit of collaboration and partnering as exemplified by the late Timothy M. Ahrens, who died on Oct. 23 after a brief illness. Mr. Ahrens was the RTA manager during development of the $2.1 billion, 20-year RTA plan.
The Town of Sahuarita and partners received the award for the Sahuarita Road project, a widening effort that incorporated new sidewalks, bike lanes, a pedestrian underpass, landscaping and new signalized traffic intersections. The project partners were recognized for demonstrating success in achieving a common goal, resolving conflict, improving communication on the project, delivery of a quality project and perpetuating the spirit of cooperation.
In addition to Rancho Sahuarita, SUSD, FICO, and the Town, the following partners were recognized for their contributions to the Sahuarita Road project:
– Union Pacific Railroad
– RS Engineering Inc.
– Southern Arizona Paving & Construction Co.
– Engineering and Environmental Consultants Inc.
– Borderland Construction Co. Inc.
“Communities are only as strong as the partnerships within them,” said Jeremy Sharpe, vice president of community development at Rancho Sahuarita. “Rancho Sahuarita is proud to play a role in the great work that is done by so many different groups coming together for a common purpose.”
